Girl sitting with no shoes

Why bigger feet doesn’t mean adult: finding shoes that fit girls proportions

When girls grow faster, the world often assumes they’re ready for adult everything, clothes, shoes, even attitudes. But growing faster doesn’t mean growing up overnight. Especially when it comes to shoes.

Between the children’s section and the women’s section, there’s often… nothing. For girls and teens whose feet grow faster than their age, finding shoes that fit; and feel right; becomes a real challenge.

We design for the in-between,  the girls who’ve outgrown the kids’ section but still deserve styles that reflect their style, energy, and personality.

The Struggle: growing fast, shopping hard

Many tall girls reach a UK size 7, 8 or 9 before they even turn 13. Parents quickly discover that the “girls and teen” options disappear, replaced by adult shapes, narrow fits, and styles that simply don’t feel right.

The problem isn’t the foot size. It’s the proportion. A  teen’s foot still needs softness, flexibility, and balance,  not stiffer soles designed for adults.

“Tall or bigger feet doesn’t mean ready for adult shoes, it means ready for better options.”

Why Proportion Matters

Proportion is about the shape and structure of the foot, not just the number on the box.

  • Length ≠ Volume: As children grow, their feet don’t just get longer, they change shape. What starts as a flat, rounded foot gradually becomes more slender and defined. Teen feet often have a slimmer heel and softer arch than adult feet, so choosing shoes designed for developing shapes is essential.
  • Flexibility: Teen feet are still growing and moving. Rigid adult soles can restrict natural movement, strain developing joints but also be uncomfortable. Look for flexible materials that move with the foot, not against it.
  • Weight balance: Every teen carries height and body changes differently. Supportive midsoles and stable bases help maintain balance, reducing the risk of rolling ankles, blisters, or pressure points.
  • Confidence: A good fit isn’t just physical, it’s emotional. Shoes that feel secure help teens stand tall, move freely, and feel comfortable in their own skin without worrying about being “different.”

Confidence, Not Compromise

When teens are confident in their shoes, it shows. They walk taller ( and feel emotionally safer). They join in PE, go out with friends, and stop worrying about hiding their feet.

The right fit says: you belong right where you are, growing, learning, and finding your style.

How we design for girls.

  • Growth-specific proportions: Softer materials for growing feet.
  • Age-appropriate styles: Chic ballet flats, lace up, sneakers, sandals, or derbies.
  • Flexible soles: Designed for daily movement — school, weekends, adventures.
  • Confidence first: Every pair supports comfort, style, and self-expression.

One Step at a Time

There’s nothing to be ashamed of in being tall or having bigger feet, though it can sometimes feel awkward. Finding shoes that fit both your body and your heart should feel easy.
